LEONIDAS "PILOT'S WATCH", KINGDOM OF YUGOSLOVIA Leonidas, case No. 144961. Made circa 1921. Fine and very rare, large, Staybrite aviator's wristwatch with elapsed time indication.

Three-body, solid, polished, revolving bezel with dart hour markers, serrated edges, wide down turned lugs, snap-on caseback with military engraving. Black with painted Arabic numerals, sunk guilloché subsidiary seconds dial, outer minute track. Gilt feuille hands. Cal. 35.5 S- T1, rhodium-plated, 15 jewels, straightline lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator.

This watch is an extremely rare Leonidas genuine serbian issued '1928 Pattern' watch, rotational bezel with internal pointer, great original black gilt dial markers, with the propeller symbol. The almost identical version can be found made by Longines and retailed by the Belgrade retailer; Milan T. Stefanovich. This watch has been specially issued by the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. In 1930 The Kingdom of Yugoslavia Air arm was also known as the Vazduhoplovsto vojske kraljevine Jugoslavije (Air Force of the Army of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia) - VVKJ.
