This type of Japanese style table clock testifies to the taste for the East in Western countries in the second half of the 19th century. A model according to the drawings of either Edouard Lièvre or Henry Panier. Many similar examples are known to have been sold by L’Escalier de Cristal, a famous Parisian shop (1804-1923).
