Notes

Signed on the counter enamel "Les Frères Huaut". DIM. 66 x 50 mm. Excluding frame. In good condition, small chip at top edge. Enamels painted by LES FRÈRES HUAUT were among the finest examples of painting on enamel from the GENEVA SCHOOL. JEAN-PIERRE (1655 -1723) and his brother AMI (1657-1724) were appointed painters to the Court of the Elector of Brandenburg in 1686, and went to Berlin where they lived and worked until 1700, at which point they returned to Geneva. After their return to Geneva their signature appeared as Les frères Huaut or Les deux frères Huaut or Peter et Amicus Huaut. To be sold without reserve
