Silvered and gilded brass, open-face, key-winding, round-shaped, “Directoire” pocket watch.

Case-back engraved with a pattern of stylised flowers and with, in the lower part, a medallion engraved with a hunting scene.

White enamel dial with suspended “Breguet” numerals, with, in the centre, a painted motif in the form of a scalloped medallion with a bouquet of flowers on a blue background; gilded metal “Fantaisie” hands.

20’’’, full plate, gilded brass, fusee and chain, verge escapement, monometallic balance (probably gilded brass) and blued steel flat hairspring, pierced and engraved gilded continental cock.

Les Frères Esquivillon & DeChoudens, Geneva
Master watchmakers actives in Geneva in the last quarter of the 18th century and in the early 19th century. In 1774, Gédéon-François Esquivillon became associated with his brother, Joseph Esquivillon, and Jaques DeChoudens (or Deschoudens). They are known to have signed sometimes « Es. et Dech.”.
