Notes

Recently discovered in Bruxelles, this watch was consigned by the daughter of the original owner, who was part of the 5th Special Air Service (SAS) as a parachutist and participated in 1944 in the liberation of concentration camps. He passed away in 1967 and the watch remained in a safe deposit box ever since.

Kept in all original condition, the watch impresses by its overall condition, the case has some scratches from wear but the lugs are still very thick, the pin holes tight and the numbers on the caseback crisp and deep. The original dial, still reacting strongly to the Geiger counter shows some wear and oxydation from age but has remained untouched. A true icon for the collectors of Longines chronograph and a rare opportunity to buy a one owner's watch.

According to correspondance with the manufacture : " Originally, the serial number 6'125'638 identifies a waterproof stainless steel wrist chronograph with reference 4974 and order number 21514. It is powered by a Longines mechanical movement with manual winding, caliber 13ZN. It was invoiced on September 19, 1941, to the France Longines company, which was our subsidiary for France at the time."
