?The Beetle? Geneva. Made circa 1870. Very fine, 18K gold and enamel, diamond and pearl-set lady?s pendant form watch with concealed dial and photograph compartment, in the shape of a beetle.

Four-body, spring-loaded wings, translucent red enamel over engine-turning and set with seed pearls, opening to reveal the dial, the neck set with seed pearls, rose-cut diamond eyes, hinged realistically cast and chased underside, ring suspension loop. Gold cuvette inscribed ?Geneve?. D. White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer minute track. ?Louis? hands. M. 25 x 21, heart-shaped, gilt, bar calibre, 8 jewels, cylinder escapement, three-arm gilt balance, flat balance spring, index regulator. Cuvette signed Genève. Dim. 51 x 27 mm.
