Mugnier, Horloger de 1'Empereur et Roi, No. 1792, completed circa 1810. Fine and rare silver, quarter repeating coach watch with alarm, accompanied by the original key.

C. Double body, Louis XVI, with Paris hallmark for 1789, polished, the bezels with interlaced engraved decoration. D. White enamel by Vincent (signed on the enamel backing) with radial Arabic numerals. Blued steel Breguet hands. M. Hinged full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plane brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring with regulator. Alarm train with fixed barrel and revolving arbor, striking on a bell. Pull wound quarter repeating on the same bell. Signed on the dial and back plate. Diam. 90 mm.

According to the hallmark on the case, this watch was certainly begun in 1789, but was not completed until the first Empire, when French made coach watches from this period are extremely rare. Only few were produced by Breguet, mainly for the Turkish Market. (See lot 11).
