Bovet, Fleurier, (Val de Travers), No. 776, Swiss, made for the Chinese Market, circa 1840. Very fine 18K gold and enamel, pearl-set centre seconds watch with special escapement.
C. Three body Empire with split-pearl set bezels pendant and bow, the band with mauve champleve enamelled decoration, the back enamel panel painted with a fine composition of Summer flowers over a mauve ground. Hinged gold glazed cuvette. D. White enamel with Roman numerals. Blued steel "spade" hands. M. Gilt brass, "Chinese" calibre fully engraved with a foliage decoration, free standing barrel, single wheel duplex escapement with steel escape wheel and three-arm balance with wedge shaped and partly blued steel weights, flat balance spring and regulator. Diam. 57 mm.
