Rundell & Bridge, No. 2655 and 2990, circa 1790. Very fine 18K gold and enamel, pearl-set watch in a gilt brass glazed protecting case.

C. Double body, Directoire with enamelled split pearl set pendant and bezels, the back of grey translucent enamel over engine-turning, centered with a pearl. D. White enamel with radial Arabic numerals (slightly restored on border beneath the bezel). Gold arrow hands. M. Hinged gilt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain steel three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass English cock "engraved with foliage and diamond end-stone. Signed on the back plate. In very good condition. Diam. 55 mm. including the protecting case.

Goldsmith to the King of England, Rundell & Bridge were not producing watch movements. The best were bought from Justin Vulliamy, the others from the trade. On the back plate of this watch, for instance, the Rundell & Bridges' signature and serial number are engraved on a small applied plaque, the movement itself carries another number
