Le Rhone Watch Co., Geneve, No. 8767, made for the French Market, circa 1925. Fine and unusual 18I< gold, platinum and enamel, diamond and gold-stone glass set, pyramidal keyless pendant watch in the Egyptian Revival style.

C. Two piece shaped with platinum band and pendant, the back set with gold-stone glass with diamond-set corners, the white enamelled gold bezel with champleve Roman numerals and decoration. D. Polished silver with engraved indexes. Blued steel "spade" hands. M. 5 1/2"', oval, rhodium plated, "fausses cotes" decoration, 18 jewels, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring. Signed on the movement, French hallmarks on the case. In very good condition. Dim. 47 x 23 mm.

Soon after the discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun, the Egyptian revival style was much in favour in Paris and was exploited in all fields, artistic or industrial, including fashion. Magnificent jewels in this style were produced by the most celebrated creators such as Cartier, Verger or Van Cleef and Arpels.
