F.L. Godon, Reloxero de Camara de S.M.C. (Sa Majeste Catholique, the King of Spain), made by Lallemand, No. 506, circa 1805. Extraordinary, and historic 18K gold and enamel half-quarter repeating watch with special striking and special escapement, made for the King of Spain.

C. Three body massive, Empire, by Tavernier (master mark) No. 1908 with reeded band, the back panel with the champleve enamelled Arms of the King framed by the Golden Fleece Royal Collar over a black ground with azure champleve border with leaf decoration. Gilt brass hinged cuvette. D. White enamel by Vincent (signed on the enamel backing) with gilt Breguet numerals. Gold engravedt hands with skeletonized tip. M. Gilt brass, blanc by Logeat 1'Aine, dated 1803, Lepine caliber with skeletonized and partly engraved bridges, free standing barrel, Robin detent-lever escapement with gold escape wheel and a roller engaging the fork of the lever, plain gold three armed balance, flat balance spring with Breguet type bimetallic compensation curb. Half-quarter repeating on large polished steel gongs by depressing the pendant. Signed Godon on the dial and cuvette, signed Lallemand on the movement, signature of Logeat 1'Aine with date, concealed in the movement. In very good condition. Diam. 56 mm.

Francois Louis Godon, Maitre en 1787, settled in Paris but almost exclusively working for the Court of Spain, used to sign his work: Reloxero de Camara de S.M.C. ( Watch maker to Sa Majeste Catholique, the King of Spain). He made several extremely fine clocks and watches. One of the exclusive features of his work, was to fit most of his clocks and watches with unusual dials on which with outer ring for hours and inner ring for minutes. Lallemand was trained and worked for Breguet as a finisher. Logeat 1'Aine and later his son was among the best watchmaker working for Louis Berthoud and also for Breguet. They were specialised in the production of blanks for high quality watches and chronometers, but never settled on their own. Vincent was among the best enamel dial makers of his time, he worked mainly for Breguet and Louis Berthoud. A very similar watch by Rieussec, was sold at Antiquorum in Geneva on 20 October 1991, lot No. 311, and another made by Lallemand for Breguet on 18 October 1992, lot No. 328.
