Redier a Paris, No. 254, circa 1873. Very rare and fine gilt brass and enamel world time eight day going timepiece designed as a terrestrial globe.
C. Resigned as an enamelled terrestrial globe, gimballed on a brass turned baluster stand. D. Arabic numerals on circular white enamel plaques applied on a gilt brass equatorial ring. Steel and gilt brass sun pointer. M. Eight day going circular movement within the globe with central going barrel, platform cylinder escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring with regulator. The whole movement mounted around a central axis carrying at one end the single hand, at the other a counterweigh which serves to maintain the globe inclined on its axis at 23 1/2° to the ecliptic, the globe and hour ring being driven around them. Signed on the globe with Redier's monogram. In very good condition; Diam. 10 cm, Height: 20 cm.
