Unsigned (Henry Capt, Geneve), circa 1810. Fine and rare 18K gold and enamel pearl and diamond-set musical watch designed as a mandolin.
C. Two-part, the ribbed back decorated with alternate sectors of blue and red translucent enamel over engine-turning and two ribs with champleve musical trophies over an azure ground, further foliage decoration on a black ground. Blue enamelled sound board with split-pearl inlaid leaf and floral decoration. Azure and black key board and white enamel head with rose-cut set pegs and wire strings, chain suspension. D. White enamel with Breguet nmerals, winding aperture at 2 o'clock. Gold Breguet hands. M. Hinged gilt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance with flat spring and regulator. Continental gilt brass cock with polished steel end-piece. hldependent oval gilt brass full plate pin-drum musical train with two sets of stacked teeth. In very good condition. Dim. 72 x 30 mm.
