"Khoorsheed Jah" Thomas Gammage & Son, 1 St. Michael's Alley, Cornhill, No. 3617. Made for Marcks and Co. Ltd., Bombay and Poona, with London hallmarks for 1881. Fine, large, and impressive 18K gold hunting-cased, keyless pocket chronometer with the enamel portrait of the owner, signed John Gillet.

C. Four-body, massive, "bassine et filets ", polished, by Alfred Thickbroom (Master mark), the cover engraved with the coat of arms of Thaig Jung Shums-Ul-Oomrao. Amir-I-Kubir, with the motto: "Khoorsheed Jah", the painted polychrome enamel portrait on the inner side. Hinged gold cuvette. D. Translucent dark green guilloché enamel with gilt radial Roman numerals and subsidiary seconds. Gold "fleur-de-lys" hands. M. Hinged gilt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain and maintaining power, Earnshaw type spring detent escapement, two-arm cut bimetallic compensation balance with gold poising and timing screws, free sprung helical balance spring with terminal curves, diamond endstone. Signed on the back plate by the maker and on the dial by the Indian retailer. Diam. 61 mm.
