?Pocket Chronometer? James Mc Cabe, Royal Exchange, London, No. 07295. Case by Alfred Stram with London hallmarks for 1872-3. Very fine and rare, 18K yellow gold hunting-cased pocket chronometer with Earnshaw type spring detent escapement and helical balance spring.
C. Four-body, "bassine et filets", polished, cover with monogram and crest. D. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions and subsidiary seconds. Gold ?fleur de lys? hands. M. 17.5''', frosted gilt, half-plate, jeweled to the first in screwed chaton, fusee and chain, Earnshaw type spring detent escapement, gold escape wheel with end-stones in screwed chaton, diamond endstone, cut bimetallic compensation balance with gold and platinum timing screws and nuts, free-sprung blued steel helical balance spring. Dial case and movement signed and numbered. Diam. 50 mm.
