?Pocket Chronometer? James Mc Cabe, Royal Exchange, London, No. 07295. Case by Alfred Stram with London hallmarks for 1872-3. Very fine and rare, 18K yellow gold hunting-cased pocket chronometer with Earnshaw type spring detent escapement and helical balance spring.

M. 17.5''', frosted gilt, half-plate, jeweled to the first in screwed chaton, fusee and chain, Earnshaw type spring detent escapement, gold escape wheel with end-stones in screwed chaton, diamond endstone, cut bimetallic compensation balance with gold and platinum timing screws and nuts, free-sprung blued steel helical balance spring. Dial case and movement signed and numbered. Diam. 50 mm.
