Leon Hatot, Paris, made for King Nicolas I, King of Montenegro, circa 1920. Very fine and historical, square, hunting cased 18ct gold gentleman's wristwatch with concealed dial.

C. massive, polished, on the cover, the Royal Crown and the Initial "N". D. two-tone silver with applied gold Breguet numerals. "Breguet" gold hands. M. 9 '' rhodiumed, "fausses cotes" decoration, 17 jewels, lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance-spring. Hall marked on the case. In very good condition. Dim. 24 x 24 mm.

Notes

Leon Hatot, watchmaker, jeweller, goldsmith, inventor. Born at Chatillon sur Seine in 1883. Made for all the top Parisian firms, including Van Cleef, Boucheron and Mauboussin. Made electric clock's under name of ATO, invented the "Rolls" self-winding movement licensed to Blancpain, and took over the famous business of Paul Gamier. Hatot did in 1953 at the outbreak of world war II, the firm closed its jewellery business and the remaining stock was kept in a bank until sold at auction a few years ago.
