Not signed, London, probably made in Friedberg for the English Market, circa 1770. Fine and unusual, early 18 ct. gold, "Adam and Eve" automaton watch.

C. Double body, oignon with glazed back, entirely chased with allegorical figures, animals and further decoration in a Renaissance pattern. D. White enamel with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute ring, aperture on the border for the regulator. Gold Louis XV hands. M. Hinged gilt brass full plate, inverted with turned baluster pillars pillars, fusee with chain, cylinder escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring. The back plate is covered with a gold panel, finely chased with a scene depicting Adam and Eve in the terrestrial paradise, the automaton serpent revolving on the border. Silver dust cap, the border of the aperture pierced and engraved with inhabited foliage. In good condition. Diam. 49 mm.
