J. Allix au Havre, circa 1825. Fine 18 ct. gold dead independant centre second Montre d'Observation.

.C. Three body, "forme quatre baguettes", engine turned (worn). Hinged gold cuvette. D. Silver engine-turned with symmetrical small Roman and Arabic chapter rings, outer dead centre second ring on border of the bezel and small subsidiary seconds. Blued steel Breguet hands. M. 22"', gilt brass, double train bar calibre with free standing barrel, cylinder escapement, plain gilt brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring and regulator. Dead independent centre seconds by means of a flirt on the escape pinion and with bolt in the band. Signed on the cuvette. In very good condition. Diam. 55 mm.

The hands of the subsidiary hour and minute chapter are driven by the independent seconds train in order to be used as hour and minute recorder but if the independent seconds train is kept in function continuously, it can be used as a second time zone dial
