B. Maingot a Paris, circa 1630. Fine silver and gilt brass octagonal pre-balance spring watch.

Three body, the band overlaid with silver, engraved with winged angel's heads and rabbits, cover and back of silver, engraved with foliage and allegorical scenes, the cover with a later glazed dial aperture, the back engraved inside with a laurel wreath. D. Silver chapter ring with Roman numerals applied on a gilt brass dial-plate engraved with cherubs and scrolling foliage, while in the centre of the dial ring is a village and horse riders on the foreground. Blued steel single hand. M. Octagonal gilt brass full plate with urn pillars, three wheel train, fusee with gut line, verge escapement, steel two-arm balance without spring, irregular foliage pierced gilt brass cock secured by a pin, worm-and-wheel set-up with small silver disc. Signed on the back plate. In good condition, with some restorations. Dim. 55 x 30
