Fraumont, Paris, circa 1840. Very fine gilt bronze, eight day going, Grande and Petite Sonnerie striking and quarter repeating carriage clock with alarm.

C. Gilt bronze "baroque", glazed four sides and top, fully decorated in high relief with garlands of flowers and foliaged. D. White enamel with Roman numerals and ubsidiary alarm setting dial. Blued steel Breguet hands. M. Brass rectangular with going barrels both on the going and the striking train, large frosted and gilt platform escapement with swan neck lateral lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring with regulator. Striking, repeating and alarm on two bell with button on the top and Grande/Petite Sonnerie Strike/Silent lever on the base. Signed on the dial and movement. In very good condition. Dim. 15 x 9 x 8 cm, excluding the handle.

The platform escapement of this clock is of the highest standard, usually seen on chronometers only. Caius Fraumont, was active in Paris, Passage Choiseul, circa 1840.
