?Jules Escapement? Jules a Paris, No. 847. Made circa 1840. Very fine and very rare, early, gilt brass hour and half hour striking carriage clock with Jules platform escapement. Accompanied by a double-ended numbered key.

C. Multi-piece in one-piece style, gilt brass, cast and chased with stylized leaf decoration, the sides and top with beveled glass, hinged handle, front and back doors, raised on stylized leaf feet. D. White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer minute track. Blued steel ?Breguet? hands. M. 10.5 x 7 cm., rectangular gilt brass, spring barrels for the going and striking trains, Jules brass platform with straight line lever escapement, monometallic balance with segmental temperature compensation weights and mean time adjustment screws, blued steel helical balance spring, outside countwheel, striking on a bell. Dial and movement signed. Dim. 15.5 x 10.5 x 8 cm. Excluding the handle.
