?The Altar of Love? Guex and Noll, a Paris. Made circa 1790. Fine, thin, 18K gold and painted on enamel pocket watch.
C. Two-body, Directoire, with white and green enamel dot and paillon decoration, the back decorated with a finely painted scene of a young couple holding a garland of flowers and paying tribute to the altar of love, painted on a Royal blue guilloché enamel ground. D. White enamel with upright Arabic numerals, outer minute divisions and Arabic quarter-hour numerals. Gold skeletonized hands. M. Hinged gilt brass half-plate cut away for the fusee and barrel secured by a semi-circular bridge, fusee with chain, cylinder escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass continental cock with polished steel end-piece. Dial and movement signed. Diam. 54 mm.
