Jean Viridet, Genève. Made circa 1795, the enamel attributed to the workshop of Jean-Louis Richter. Very fine, gold, painted on enamel and pearl-set pocket watch with outer gilt metal glazed case.

C. Outer: two-body, gilt metal bezels, glazed back. Inner: twobody, hinged and sprung bezel set with seed pearls, the back decorated with a finely painted scene of a young mother with two children against a translucent royal blue sunray enamel ground, the border with turquoise champlevé enamel and chased gold and split-pearl decoration, seed pearl set border. D. White enamel with upright Arabic numerals, outer minute divisions, winding aperture at 2. Pierced gold hands. M. 43 mm., frosted gilt with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance with flat balance spring, pierced and chased continental type balance cock, silver regulation dial. Dial and movement signed. Diam. 60 mm.
