?Urn of Flowers? George Prior, London, No. 15729. Made for the Islamic market, circa 1815. Very fine, large, quarter repeating, vari-colored gold pair-cased pocket watch.

Outer: two-body, ?bassine?, the back decorated with a twohandled urn with flowers in relief, flower and leaf border and bezel, inner: two-body, ?bassine?, polished, the band pierced and engraved with flowers and foliage. D. White enamel with radial Islamic numerals, outer dot minute divisions and Islamic five minute numerals. Blued steel Breguet hands. M. 40 mm., frosted gilt full plate, cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance, flat balance spring, foliate engraved balance cock and backplate furniture, silver regulation dial, repeating on a bell activated by depressing the pendant. Dial and movement signed. Cases numbered. Diam. 60 mm.

George Prior Is recorded as being active between 1809-1822. A watch and clock maker who often worked for the Turkish and Islamic market, in 1809 he won a silver medal from the Society of Arts for a clock escapement.
