?Detent Chronometer? Tallibart, Rathbone Place, London, No. 11256. Made for the Islamic market, the case by Louis Comptesse, with London hallmarks for 1850. Very fine, large, 18K gold pocket chronometer with spring detent escapement.
C. Four-body, ?pomme et filets?, by Louis Comptesse (mastermark LC), engine-turned and polished. Hinged gold cuvette, gilt dust ring. D. Silver with foliate engraving, applied gold Islamic numerals and gold foliate outer border, subsidiary seconds. Blued steel fleur-de-lys hands. M. 53 mm., frosted gilt, half-plate, cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain and Harrison?s maintaining power, jeweled to the third wheel, Earnshaw chronometer escapement with spring footed detent, cut bimetallic compensation balance with platinum meantime and temperature adjustment screws, blued steel helical balance spring, diamond endstone, index regulator.
