?Lac Leman? Frères Rochat, Genève, No. 642. Made circa 1840. Fine, gold-mounted tortoiseshell and painted on enamel singing bird box.
C. Rectangular, entirely made with tortoiseshell, key compartment to the rear, hinged gold and painted on enamel oval bird cover decorated with a view of Lake Geneva. M. Rectangular, 70 x 39 mm, brass, turned pillars, fusee and chain, rectangular bellows, the multi-colored feathered bird with moving head, flapping wings, opening beak and moving tail, eight cams controlling the piston and the bird's beak and tail, two additional for the other movements, gold grille pierced and engraved with foliate decoration. Movement stamped JFR within an oval. Dim. 83 x 56 x 22 mm.
