?Pivoted Detent Chronometer? Moulinié & Legrandroy, Genève, No. 29950. Made circa 1860. Very fine, hunting-cased, 18K gold pocket chronometer with the original Moulinié & Legrandroy fitted brass-inlaid rosewood box.
C. Four-body, ?bassine?, entirely chased with foliate scrolls, hinged and sprung front cover decorated with a wreath of oak leaves and acorns in relief surrounding a monogrammed cartouche, the back cover with an oak leaf and acorn bouquet in relief. Hinged gold cuvette. D. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds. Blued steel ?fleur-de-lis? hands. M. 42 mm (19???), nickel plated, ?faussescôtes? decoration, 17 jewels, the escape wheel and detent with gold endplates, gold train, Earnshaw-type chronometer escapement with pivoted detent, jewelled locking stone, cut-bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator. Cuvette signed. Diam. 50 mm.
