Medal: The obverse with a profile of Turriano and the inscription ?IANELLVS TVRRIAN CREMON HOROLOG ARCHITECT?, the reverse with a scene of Virtue as a fountain and the inscription ?VIRTVS NVNQ : DEFICIT?. Diam. 78 mm.


In good condition, slight wear to areas of high relief.

Notes

The Cremonese Giovanni della Torre (1500 ? 1585) known as Juanelo Turriano, he became clockmaker to Carlos V in 1545 at the recommendation of the Marquess del Vasto. Another example of this medal is in the in Museo Lázaro Galdiano, Madrid.
