"Tableau à Musique" French, the musical movement signed Alibert, No. 21012. Made circa 1840. Fine and rare, eight day going, hour and half hour striking musical clock painting, playing two tunes on the hour or at will.
C. Gilt wood framed oil on canvas, depicting a church with the clock in its tower, in a wooded landscape with figures in aboat on a river in the foreground. D. White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and Arabic five minute numerals. Steel hands. M. Rectangular, 11 x11 cm, brass with large going barrels both for the going and the striking trains, anchor escapement, inverted crutch, brass-bob pendulum with silk suspension, striking on a coiled gong. Musical movement: brass 9 x 5 cm., playing two tunes, pinned cylinder with 70 vibrating blades in a single comb, start/stop and tune selection levers in the base. Musical movement incomplete. Dim.
