"Criquet", No. 1050, Breveté S.G.D.G., circa 1920. Fine and unusual silver keyless alarm watch.
C. Three body, massive, "pomme et gouge" with gold bow, the small glazed alarm setting aperture for minutes adjustment on the revolving bezel with gold border, the back chased in high relief with a locust and outer floral decoration. Hinged silver engine-turned cuvette, pierced for the sound, inset on the reverse with a thin blued steel panel increasing the sound transmitted by a pin, in the manner of a gramophone. D. White enamel with Roman numerals, red half hour divisions and outer minute ring visible through the bezel aperture only. Blued steel "spade" hands. M. 17"', gilt brass three-quarter plate, double train with differential winding, 15 jewels, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance-spring. Alarm simulating the typical sound of the locust. In very good condition. Diam. 48 mm.
