Aloys Preysing in Vusdorf (Austria), circa 1820. "The billiard players". Fine and unusual quarter and hour striking and pull repeating, gilt bronze musical dock.
C. Double level octagonal base with six turned feet, the lower stage with applied symmetrical decoration of, in the centre, two putti playing a board game within stylised leaf decoration, the side panels with crossed hockey sticks over a laurel wreath. The upper stage carried on six animal feet with applied decoration of quivers of arrows and formal leaves. Above and on either side of the movement, two putti play billiards on a table with Egyptianising legs. D. White enamel with Breguet numerals and inner calendar ring. Pierced and chased gilt brass hands. M. Brass rectangular three trains with going barrels, the going train with anchor escapement, short pendulum and silk suspension. Striking and repeating the quarters before the hours on gongs with independent trains. Musical train with a 98 mm. cylinder and a 80 tooth comb. Signed on the dial and music signed by A.C.I. Brich in Wien. In very good condition.
