Not signed, early 19th Century. Very fine shitan wood and brass spring driven Japanese striking pillar dock.

Rectangular hooded with extended shaped back with suspension hole; light wood beading to windows on three sides of the movement, rectangular slots in sides of the trmlk with brass, sectored grills, key storage draw below hour scale. D. Engraved brass running the length of the tmnk alongside the thirteen individual hour plaques engraved with the character for each hour and all mounted on removable wood plaque, index travelling in a slot alongside. M. gilt brass, rectangular with four shaped turned pillars, slotted main-spring barrel and balance set horizontally on top plate, verge escapement, fusee at base of movement; front plate worked "à jour" with engraved, asymmetrical flower patterns. In very good condition. Dim. 46.5 x 6.5 x 5 cm.
