Signed J. W. Benson, French, circa 1890. Fine and rare gilt brass, "grande et petite sonnerie", quarter repeating, eight day going giant carriage clock with painted glass panels.

C. Gilt bronze, "gorge", entirely engraved with a floral and palmette decoration. Side glass panels recently decorated with painted scenes of young loving couples within blue and gilt frames (left panel restored) . D. Glass panel decorated en suite with a sittingmaiden in a landscape, painted at the base, the chapter ring with Roman numerals (left upper corner restored). Blued steel "spade" bands, M. Eight day going double train movement with going barrels. Large engine-turned silvered platform escapement, lateral lever escapement, uncut bimetallic balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring. Striking and repeating a gongs with button at the top, "grande/petite sonnerie", striée/silent optional lever in the base. Signed on the dia1. In very good condition. Dim. 22 x 13.5 x 10 cm.
