L. Vrard & Co., Shanghai & Hankow, Swiss, made for the Chinese Market, circa 1890. Fine and unusual eight day going, quarter striking and repeating "mignonette" carriage clock, in original fitted box.

C. Gilt brass, glazed four sides and top, entirely engraved in the Chinese style. D. White enamel with blue Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute ring. Blued steel "pear" bands. Gilt brass dial-plate finely engraved with a heron below the dial, M. Gilt brass rectangular double train with going barrels, gilt brass platform with lateral lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring. Striking and repeating on gongs with button at the top, the barrel of the striking train, with female winding square, set horizontally in the base. Signed on the dial. In very good condition. Dim. 7 x 5 x 4.5 cm.
