Not signed, swiss, circa 1914. Fine and very unusual extra large 14 ct. pink gold hunting cased, moon phase astronomical, keyless minute repeating watch presented by his father on 14 July 1914 to Adalbert, Prince of Prussia, in wooden fitted box with complete documentation.

C. Four body, massive, with knurled band, entirely engraved with vine leaf decoration, the cover centred with a small crowned monogram, the back with an urn. Hinged gold cuvette engraved with foliage and with a dedication dated 1914. D. White enamel with Arabic numerals, outer minute ring, sunk subsidiary dials for days of the week, months, dates and seconds with inner moon phase aperture. Gold Louis XV hands. M. 22"', glazed rhodium plated, "â vague" decoration, 29 jewels, counterpoised straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring. Repeating on gongs with slide in the band. In very good condition. Diam. 66 mm.

ADALBERT OF PRUSSIA One of the six sons of William II, Emperor of Prussia, he was born on 14th April 1884 at the Marble Palace. He was the only one, among his brothers, to choose to serve in the Navy where he became Captain of Corvette. On 3rd August 1914, he married Princess Adelaide of Sax-Meiningen. Alter the fall of the Empire in 1918, he moved to Switzerland with his wife and they took the rame of Count and Countess von Lingen. He died in La Tour de Peilz near Montreux, Switzerland, on 22nd September 1948.
