Marcks & Co. Ltd. Bombay & Poona, No. 37595, Swiss, made for the Indian Market, circa 1900. The case in the manner of J. Ferrero. Magnificent, 18 ct. gold, enamel and diamond hunting-cased, keyless minute-repeating "grande et petite sonnerie" clockwatch with chronograph.
C. Four body, massive, "bassine et filet", bezels and band engraved with foliage, fleurons and further decoration in a diamond pattern, the cover with a rosette of inlaid old cut diamonds on a black enamel ground, the back with a smaller rosette en suite over a blue enamel ground, the border with champlevé engraved decoration. Hinged gold cuvette partly engraved with scrolling foliage. D. Silver with Roman numerals, outer minute and chronograph ring, and sunk subsidiary seconds, the centre with gold cast floral decoration with a bird feeding his young in the nest. M. Glazed, 18"' frosted and gilt three-quarter plate, two wheel trains, twin barrels with differential winding, 27 jewels in the going train, partly in gold screwed settings, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring. Striking and repeating on gongs with slide in the band, strike/silent and quarter/full strike levers in the bezel. Chronograph with push piece in the band. Signed on the cuvette.
