Auguste Saltzman, Chaux-de-Fonds (Swiss), No. 1266, circa 1856. Fine and unusual 18 ct. gold hunting cased, watch with patented independent 1/4 seconds and " diablotine".
C. Four body, massive "bassine et filets", polished with reeded band. Hinged gold cuvette with engine-turned border. D. White enamel with Roman numerals, outer minute and seconds rings and sunk subsidiary 1/4 seconds "foudroyante". Blued steel Breguet hands. M. 19"', nickel plated, special calibre engraved with technical details and mention of the patent applied in 1858, 30 jewels, counterpoised straight fine lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring. Independent seconds with push piece in the band. Signed on the dial and movement. In very good condition. Diam. 57 mm.
