C.H. Meylan, Brassus, Swiss, No. 7227, made circa 1890, converted into a wristwatch in 1918. Fine and rare 18 ct. gold, small keyless watch with split seconds chronograph.

C. Three body, massive, "demi-bassine", polished, the back engraved with a dedication dated 1918. Hinged gold cuvette. D. White enamel with Breguet numerals, outer red Arabic minute and chronograph ring sunk centre and subsidiary seconds. Blued steel "spade" hands. M. 12"', nickel plated, "fausses côtes" decoration, 25 jewels, counterpoised straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, seven adjustments, Breguet balance spring. Chronograph with visible work, with button on the winding crown and split seconds push piece in the band. Signed on the dial, case and movement. In very good condition. Diam. 52 mm.

Watches with split seconds chronograph of very small size such as the present example, are extremely rare, they were most frequently used by doctors or nurses. The dedication on the back was certainly engraved at the time it was converted into a wristwatch
