Not signed, attributed to Piguet & Capt, Geneva, circa 1810. Fine and rare 18 ct. gold and enamel, pearl-set musical automaton pendant, designed as an escutcheon.

C. Double body with split-pearl set bezels and rock crystal glass, the front with a painted enamel landscape with a water-mill and cascade beside which an applied automaton figure of a girl, in five couloured gold, is feeding sheep while a dog barks and the wheel of the water-mill turns, gold back panel engraved with a central fountain flanked by trees. M. Gilt brass shaped Musical train with pinbarel and two groups of stacked steel blades (4+2), the barrel cover set with a cam driving the automaton's arm. In very good condition. Dim. 49 x 39 mm.

Although it is not signed, this musical automaton pendant can be attributed to Piguet & Capt who were the best makers of the time for such complicate automatons and also produced such watches for retailers who often preferred the pieces to be signed, with only their own rames or ultimately totally unsigned.
