Grebauval à Rouen, circa 1640. A very fine and rare, silver pre-balance spring pendant watch.

C. Double body, entirely decorated with tapering flutes with alternating chased gilt floral decoration, the pattern continuing over the bezel. Ring supporting the glass retained by claws. Loose ring pendant. D. Hinged gilt silver plate located by four legs and entirely engraved with elaborate Summer flowers in low relief on a hatched ground. Applied polished silver chap ter ring with Roman hour numerals. Single pierced gilt brass band. M. Hinged gilt brass full plate with turned baluster pillars, three wheel train, fusee with gut lune, verge escapement, plain steel two-arm balance without spring, irregular gilt brass pierced and florally engraved balance cock secured by a screw, worm and wheel set up. Signed on the back plate. In very good condition. Diam. 47 mm.
