Attributed to Jean Mussard, Geneva circa 1720, movement by Henry Massy, London, No. 2595, circa 1720. Fine and rare 20 ct. gold mounted brass and enamel watch in shagreen protecting case.

Double body, bassine with loose ring pendant, the enamel back with a painted scene of Venus and Adonis with Cupid, the band with four gold framed vignettes with castles in lake side landscapes (one panel restored), bezel painted with a landscape scene, the interior painted with a rural scene in which a traveller walks along the bank of a river towards a bridge leading to a hamlet with Forest behind. D. White enamel with Roman numerals and Arabic minute ring. Blued steel hands. M. Later hinged gilt brass full plate with Egyptian pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain steel three-arm balance, flat balance spring and gilt brass cock pierced and engraved with a mask and inhabited foliage. Signed on the back plate. In good condition. Diam. 49 mm.
