Marcel & Compagnie, Palais Cy devant Royal à Paris, No. 13, circa 1800. Extremely rare mahogany pair of Barometer and Thermometer.

C. Veneered in mahogany with ebony band to the border and finials to top and bottom. The barometer has a large tube terminating in an attractive exposed cut glass bowl and a silver scale engraved with the signature. D. With usual indication such as: Très Sec - Beau Temps - Gde . Pluie, etc. and notes the pressure on 22 Nov. 1768, presumably the lowest recorded. The thermometer with a beautiful shaped silvered scale extending over the whole of the front with a narrow band of mahogany and ebony around it. The spirit thermometer has five decorative coils at the base and is graduated throughout the length of the thermometer, being marked with such things as: Bains - Tempéré - Glace. It also records what are presumably the highest and lowest temperatures: Paris . 1753 + 30 Paris. 1740 - 10 1709 -17 -- 1788 - 17,5. Both signed. Dim. 109 cm. high. Lot of 2
