Romilly à Paris, No. 1705, dated 7/78, bearing the Paris hallmarks for 1777-1778. Fine 18 ct. gold and enamel, dumb quarter repeating watch.

C. Double body, Louis XVI, the bezels chased with a leaf decoration, the back of blue translucent enamel over engine-turning, centred with a chased green enamelled rosette ( slightly restored). D. Later white enamel with Roman numerals. Gold Louis XV bands. M. Hinged gilt brass full plate with conical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass continental cock pierced and engraved with Romilly's monogram and polished steel end-piece. Repeating on the case by depressing the pendant. Signed on the back plate and dial-plate. In good condition. Diam. 38 mm.
