Charles Edouard Jacot, Chaux-de-Fonds, No. 8410, Swiss, circa 1870. Very fine 18 ct. gold, unusual early keyless watch.
C. Four body massive , engine-turned with reeded borders and deeply engine-turned band. Hinged gold cuvette engine turned on the border. D. Three piece white enamel with Roman numerals, outer Arabic minute ring and sunk subsidiary seconds. M. 18"', nickel plated, special calibre, 18 jewels in gold screwed settings, counterpoised straight fine lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, blued steel helical balance spring with terminal curves and regulator. Very special invented by Jacot for winding and setting the hands, patented in September 1864, November 1867 and April 1870. Signed on the dial, case and movement. In very good condition. Diam. 54 mm.
