Longines, No. 3714, Swiss, circa 1912. Fine and extremely rare 18 ct. gold, hunting cased, keyless minute repeating watch with "Carillon Westminster" chime in original mahogany fitted box.

C. Four body, massive, "demi-bassine", polished, a dedication dated April 1912, engraved inside the cover. Gold cuvette decorated with medals awarded in different exhibitions. D. White enamel with Arabic numerals and sunk subsidiary seconds. Gold "spade" hands. M. 18"', frosted and gilt, 37 jewels, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring. Repeating on four gongs with four hammers with slide in the band. Signed on the dial, case and movement. In excellent condition. Diam. 55 mm.

Notes

Minute repeating watches with Carillon Westminster are very rare. They were the speciality of Edouard JeanRichard in Le Locle. An identical watch signed by Bernard Janneret Jean-Guy, in the Musée International d'Horlogerie in La Chaux-de- Fonds, is illustrated in A. Chapuis : Grands Artisans de la Chronométrie, pages 227, fig. 161- 162.
