Not signed, attributed to Piguet & Capt, Geneva, circa 1810. Fine and rare 18 ct. gold and enamel, pearl-set musical watch with automaton, designed as an escutcheon.
C. Double body with split-pearl set borders, the hinged cover set with an enamel panel painted with a figure of Urania, the Muse of Astronomy, the back panel with a bunch of flower on a blue ground. D. Gold escutcheon shape, the small eccentric chapter ring with Arabic numerals chased above with an automaton reclining figure of Orpheus, playing the lute, driven by the musical train. Bluecl steel "spade" bands. M. Gilt brass shaped, double train, the going train with going barrel, cylinder escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring. Musical train with pin-barel and two groups of stacked steel blades (4+2), the barrel cover set with a cam driving the automaton's arm. hl very good condition. Dim. 40x37mm.
