Robert Roskell, Liverpool, No. 42949, with Chester hallmarks for 1829. Fine 18 ct. gold stop-watch with an early single roller detached escapement and unusual temperature compensation.

C. Four body marked "C.J./W.G." with fixed cuvette and reeded band, the back polished. D. White enamel with Roman numerals and subsidiary seconds. Gold "spade" hands. M. Hinged gilt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, Liverpool jewelling, fusee with chais and maintaining power, single roller lever escapement, plain steel three-arm balance, flat balance spring with unusual bimetallic compensation curb on the index, gilt brass balance cock and diamond endstone. Gilt brass dust-cap. Signed on the back plate. hl very good condition. Diam. 50 mm.
