Dent, London, No. 12384, circa 1840's. Fine, brass-cased eight day going, chronometer timepiece carriage clock with "single-staple" balance, helical balance spring, diamond endstone to balance cock. All in original mahogany fitted box, lined green baize, carrying-strap, original key.

C. Gilt-brass, glazed four sides and top, slide-down rear glass, sunk handle. D. White enamel, gilt, engraved foliate surround, gilt-brass bevelled frame, blued steel hands, hours, minutes, seconds. M. Brass rectangular, fusee and chain, maintaining power, Earnshaw-type spring-detent platform escapement, E.J. Dent's "single-staple" balance, blued steel helical spring, diamond endstone to balance cock. Signed on dial and movement. In very good condition with now-rare original numbered winding key and with (even more unusual) original travelling box. Dim. 18 x 13.5 x 11 cm.
