E.I. Dent, London, No. 663, early Victorian. Most impressive and unusual, gilt-and brasscased, eight day going carriage clock, striking hours and halves on a gong and repeating hours, lever escapement.

C. Brass in contrasting black and gilt, glazed on four sides and on top, dentil moulding above dial, bun feet, repeat button. D. White enamel, engraved gilt brass, foliate surround, all in gilt bevelled frame. Blued steel "moon" hands. M. Brass rectangular, fusees and chains to both trains, maintaining power on going side, platfonn lever escapement, underslung, cut bimetallic balance, flat balance spring, ruby endstone to balance cock, strike/silent. Signed on dial and movement. In very good condition. Dim. 21.5 x 16 x 14.5 cm. excluding handle.
